Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the nearest station?
The nearest station is about a five minute walk away.  If you have heavy luggage we will be happy to come and pick you up, if arranged beforehand, otherwise there is a taxi rank close by.
Do we need a car to get around?

Definitely not.  There is plenty to do and see within walking distance and, with the station being so close there are many places it is easy to visit.  Dawlish, Totnes, Exeter, Topsham and Plymouth are accessible by train, to name just a few, and the line is famously scenic.  Buses are also close by and you could get one to visit the beautiful Powderham Castle.

Do you take credit cards?

We can accept payment by credit or debt card or by bank transfer and require payment of one nights stay to secure a room. Please see ‘what if I have to cancel’ for further details.

Can we bring our pet?
Yes, so long as we are notified beforehand.
Do you speak languages other than English?
Yes, we speak French and German.
What happens if we have to cancel?
We ask for a deposit equal to the first night of the stay to confirm your booking and full payment 14 days prior to the booking for all stays over 2 nights in length. Bookings of no more than 2 nights may pay on arrival. 
 
Bookings of 2 nights. Should you need to cancel your booking please advise Woodlands at least fourteen days prior to your arrival date for a return of the deposit. In the event of a cancellation within the fourteen day period prior to your arrival date the deposit will be retained unless the room can be re-booked. 
 
Bookings of over 2 nights. Should you need to cancel your booking please advise Woodlands at least fourteen days prior to your arrival date for a return of the deposit. In the event of a cancellation within the fourteen day period prior to your arrival date but following full payment, 25% of the full amount will be retained unless the room can be re-booked. If a cancellation is less than 48 hours before arrival you will be charged 50% of the full booking amount and in the event of a no show you will be charged the full cost of the stay.
 
 
Special Circumstances: when a local festival is taking place, such as the Folk Festival, Teign Shanty Festival or Teignmouth Pride we ask for a deposit equal to full payment to confirm the booking.
How far is it to the beach?

The beach is between 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

What time is check in/check out?
Check in – 3pm

Check out – 12pm.  If you are not leaving Teignmouth immediately after check out we are happy to look after your bags until you are ready to go and you are also welcome to leave your car on the drive.

I have food allergies, can you accommodate me?
We are very used to dealing with food allergies, just give us enough notice so we can buy the appropriate alternatives.
I have a wheelchair, can I stay with you?
Unfortunately, both our rooms are up some stairs.
Is there a minimum stay?

Yes, there is a minimum stay of 2 nights.
